TUTORIAL : Installation Procedure for arcAstroVR

To run arcAstroVR, the planetarium software Stellarium and a Dataset are required.

Installation and configuration of Stellarium

After installing the latest version from the Stellarium website (https://stellarium.org), launch it and configure the following settings.

Open Config [F2] > Plugins > Remote Control and check Load at startup.
Open Config [F2] > Plugins > ArchaeoLines and check Load at startup.
Restart Stellarium.
Open Config [F2] > Plugins > Remote Control and click configure.
Check Server enabled and Enable automatically at startup.
Set Port Number to 8090.
Click Save settings as default, and close the settings window.
Open Config [F2] > Scripts > skybox.ssc, checkClose window when script runs, and click the▶︎(script runs).
Open Config [F2] > Tool > Screenshot and set the following.
Screenshot Directory : Path of the location of the Stellarium configuration file in each OSFor Mac, specify /Users/<USERNAME>/Library/Application Support/Stellarium/.
For Win, specify C:/Users/<USERNAME>/AppData/Roaming/Stellarium/.File format : png
Check Custom size : 960 × 910
Open Location [F6], check Use custom time zone and select the same time zone as in dataset.txt from the Time zonepull-down.In Stellarium, if you specify a year before 1848 (before the introduction of time zones), the time zone will automatically be set to local mean solar time or local true solar time, which may deviate from arcAstroVR's time zone setting.
